The God Who
Saves: Exodus and New Exodus
Salvation is the biggest of all the Christian words. But more
than a word, salvation is a story. It is about a God who creates
and who saves. In this lecture-oriented class, we’ll look at the
two great salvation stories from the Bible: the Exodus from
Egypt and Jesus’ New Exodus on a cross outside Jerusalem. Not
only will we tackle these Exodus themes, we will also take a
look at the meanings of baptism and Holy Communion. Topics
include “Where Did God Go?,” “Look Who Is Here!,” “Name and
Promise,” God, Destroyer and Deliverer,” “Care and Covenant,”
“Commandment and Communion,” “By Water and the Spirit,” and “The
Meal Jesus Gave Us.”
